I have a p7p55d-e motherboard that supports 2200/1600/1333/1066 ddr3 in my current PC.

I have some corsair vengeance 2400mhz ddr3 ram for a new mobo.

I am thinking of trying out 2400mhz ram in my p7p55d-e tonight, just for fun.

I'll be putting this in my "new" motherboard tomorrow, so this is just for a few hours

Will this work, and will it cause any damage to either ram or mobo?

Thanks!

It wont cause damage but you might not be able to set it to its factory speed. Might have to settle for 2200.

Worst case scenario the system wont be stable. Best case it will work fine. Give it a shot!
