I'm pretty new to building PCs, what goes with what and such, and I want to make sure its good/will work before I go spending a lot, heh.

I'm not sure at all what OS is recommended for a gaming PC, so any help with that would be great. Also, if anyone has any recommendations for replacements, or improvements, it'd be really appreciated. Idealy I'd want to keep my budget under £900, so if there's some hardware which tends to give the same preformance for less price, I'd be happy to hear about it, hehe.

Thanks in advance.

I havent built a computer for about a year but it really isnt that hard. I will just state a few obvious things from looking at your descriptions of the parts. I dont have time to go and look at each one in depth..

With that in mind, I assume that the intel core 2 quad pro is socket 775, so your motherboard and cpu will be compatible. As will your CPU cooler (Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler).

Looking at your motherboard (just the description you have given) and GPU, both state PCI-E compatability so they should be ok, but there might be somthing im missing as I have not made anything with a d3d10 card..

Your psu will do fine, and because your motherboard is pretty 'up to date' you can almost allways expect that it will accept your DVDRW sata drive, so that should also be ok. The same should also be said for windows vista.

I would have to look at your chosen motherboard in more detail to see if it is capable of housing your selected ram and harddrive. But it 'probably' should.

Also, I guess you should use vista for the d3d10 support. Also dont forget you need a case ;x
