Not if your case will only take 160mm no.
If you look at it from the side the fan looks lower, but when you see it from the front it does look higher.
They are accurate with the sizes, my case was 163mm I think and cooler was 165mm and I thought they must allow for a couple of mm tolerance, but they didn't lol. So I just cut a bit off the top of the heat pipes as I figured there's nothing to break on a heatsink anyway.

well i dont know what size the z3 will take it doesnt say anywhere unfortunatly !!!

i just know someone has put a 160mm HS in it and it fits,

just wondering if anyone knew if it would take the deepcool :(

Gutted I've bought the hs already so need to by a case that it fits in. Any suggestions ?

Any preferences? Window, cooling requirements (other than the 170mm heatsink clearance), colours, budget?

The other alternative is to return the heatsink.

Hmm heat sink seems to get good reviews. Not really bothered about the case but under £75 would be good. As for design anything goes

On the Zalman site it gives the following dimensions for the Z3 192(W)x465(H)x430(D)mm so i'd imagine you'd be cutting it very close with that cooler. How about the any of the other Z series? z9, z11 & z12 would probably fit

Was only looking at ATX cases since I didn't know how big your motherboard is. It's surprisingly difficult to find cases that will take a cooler that tall. Most of them have a 160mm clearance, found a couple with 166mm, lots with less. These were the only two I looked at within your budget that I could confirm had the required clearance:

YOUR BASKET
1 x BitFenix Ronin Tower Case - Black £69.95
1 x Antec 302 Three Hundred Two Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £59.99
Total : £139.54 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I'm sure there are others but I could spend all night trying to research every case on the site I think :(

If you're willing to spend that money I still think you'd be better off returning the cooler you have and spending the extra on a different heatsink.

Wow, color me surprised!

Seems a bit strange to me, the Lucifer seems to be a budget-end heatsink, but it's been manufactured to a height that doesn't seem to fit in any budget-end cases. The reviews I read on it are good, but I would have thought someone willing to spend £100+ on a case that it would fit in, probably wouldn't flinch at paying an extra £20 for a higher specced heatsink.

yeh but on some specs i dont understand for example it fits in the gx700 :

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-196-AN

which is 7.9" wide and doesnt have a side fan to block any CPU cooler

but an antec one case :

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-178-AN&groupid=2362&catid=160

is wider but only supports a cooler to 155mm ????

is this because some case manufacturers are quoting CPU clearance with side fans installed ? can overclockers clea rit up ?

it seems very strange that the deepcool cooler will only seem to fit in about 2 cases of the 100 i have seen :(
