will it work on this am3 mobo

Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

with this cpu AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz (Socket AM3)

Personaly I would run in dual channel but thats just me

Whether this makes any difference in performance between 2 or 3 modules

To be honest, i would get THIS which is a tenner more, but just run 2 x 2gig in dual channel and sell the other 2gig modual and make up fir the tenner extra.

this way you get 4 gig in duall channel more instead of 2gig, (or 3 on single channel)

and will still come to the same price after you sold the spare modual
