Will this new build need a new PSU?

I'm thinking of upgrading my PC which will contain the following - i7-3770K, 8Gb ram, Gigabyte Z77X-D3H a Samsung 840 SSD and secondary mechanical drives of some sort (my Raptor and an old Hitachi Deskstar probably). No discrete GFX or sound to begin with so just running the onboard HD4000, and no overclocking.

Will my current 580w Hiper be ok, or need replacing. Likewise if i got a new GFX card (would be a middle of the range £150-200 job) would i need a new PSU then?

Could anyone recommend a new one? (no criteria other than not ludicrously expensive and i would like it modular to keep the case tidy).

Thanks!

Assuming the PSU is in good shape (even the best will die eventually) it will be fine. Even a highish end GPU with that setup will be fine

I'd replace it to be honest, Hiper aren't the best brand out there. Something like this would suffice, but it really depends on your future upgrade plans.

wasn't it the hiper 580's that were notorious for blowing up and taking componets with them, if so your lucky it to have lasted so long.

I would be looking at a new psu does it have to be modular though as that pushes the price up a bit

Yeah it is that model (well the one with the modular plugs). I guess it's best to replace it anyway! Are there any bad brands to avoid now? Or will any 600w odd PSU suffice?

Thanks
