Hi Guys -

wonder if anyone would know if this setup will overclock

AMD Athlon II x 2 245

Nividai Geforce 6100

2Gb 800Mhz DD2

400w PSU

Just bought these few items but not really up on overclocking, so
any thoughts on what, or if anything can be done with the above.

The PC runs OK for browsing the net, but seems very slow to my
last overclock - this was the Athlon 2500 (clocked to 3.200) very good chip.

Anyway, your thoughts and input would be much appreciated.

You should be able to overclock your cpu but it depends on the motherboard, what is it ? also I think your nvidia 6100 is built into the motherboard and not really that good for gaming, you could add a graphics card but again depends on what your motherboard is and you may possibly need a better psu, I am sure some more knowledgable (sp) guys will be along and put you right.

The motherboard is the GeForce6100PM-M2.

I bought it as a bare bones setup, but think that I may
have not done myself any favours with it.

I can spend upto £60 on a new graphics card, so any
suggestions on that would also be much appreciated.

Not sure about the Ram though. Guess it would be
better to also upgrade that as well.

Just Googled the motherboard for reviews - Yuk!

Looks as if nothing can be done with this board as it is
bog standard, with no room to overclock.

Will have to try and get another motherboard that can match this
CPU. Or maybe this might be the wrong approach.

Any thoughts please as I am confused on which way to go.

I got an AMD 245 to 3.6ghz on a sapphire 770 motherboard which was quite cheap, you can get a reasonable overclock out of those chips.

Just what I was looking for - I like the Gigabyte motherboards and
this one should do great. Plus not to expensive as well.

Will have to get a graphics card as well, but will do some research on
that now.
