I have found a PC for my partner but need to know if it will play WOW and the expansions, doesn't matter if it has to run at minimum.

The specs are:
AMD Athlon X2 7450
(2.4GHz, 512KB Cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
3GB memory
320GB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9200 integrated graphics
DVD Rewriter
9x USB ports
Media card reader
Soundcard included

Any and all feedback is very appreciated.

- Not sure about the CPU.
- Memory is fine at 3GB
- You will want to upgrade the graphics.

I currently have an Athlon 64 4000+ single core CPU, 1GB of DDR1 RAM and an ATI X1950 Pro 512MB PCI-Express. It runs WoW and the Burning Crusade expansion just fine... But Wrath of the Lich king is a lagfest and I have to turn down settings. There are some areas in the game that REALLY lag, and I have to turn the settings down ALL the way to minimum...

The upcoming expansion will lag even more.

Summary - you NEED a better graphics card, and maybe a better CPU. RAM is fine.

upgraded my memory from 2gig to 4gig a couple of months back and found i could run wotlk on full settings with no lag or strange Dalaran jerkiness. Unfortunately the memory died last week and im back to my old 2gig and northrend lagfest :(

In answer to the OP, the 9200 is definitely the weak link in the pc your looking at, which im guessing is a laptop ? Did some searches and its hard to find anyone with a good word for the 9200.

how much worse is an integrated nvidia 9200 than an aincient radeon 9200 agp card with 128 mb ram on a pc with 1gig of ram and a pentium 4 - because i ran wow fine on that spec!, heck i could even run everquest 2 and did a few raids on that with everything on lowest settings!

WoW has become pretty nasty on graphics now, after the new expansion. Even my GTX 275 and E6850 @ 3.6GHz used to struggle when I was raiding. My graphics were on full however, but as a comparison, I used to raid with full graphics in TBC with a 8800GT, and never experienced any FPS issues. So you can see how the graphics issue has increased.

Not sure what it's like, as I have quit playing since the start of the summer. But just a heads up ^^

Aside from the spec not being that good, that sounds like a classic nasty pre-build? If so, it'll have 3GB RAM because it'll be 32-bit Vista, the hard drive is probably slow and the components will be generic junk (particularly the PSU, which will cause problems if you want to upgrade the graphics card.)

I think you're better off building one yourself :)

My advice would be to start a new thread in hardware general. Specify your needs as well as the budget you have to work with. Please also mention anything else you need (monitor, keyboard, mouse, OS, whatever else).

I imagine someone will be able to do better unless you are getting it really cheap.

Im currently running wow on a 1.8ghz dual core, 2gb ddr2 mem and a 8600 with ease on a 1440x900 monitor.

It will run fine. WoW barely uses the GPU if at all :/
