Well making a pc for a friend and he brought my 2900 xt.Will this power it OcUK Huntkey 450W PSU (on OcUK site). It would also be running a x2 3800 2gig of ram a HD and cdrom 2-3 fans. Not 100% it will but trying to keep it as cheap as i can for him hence the so so psu.

I would probably say yes :) as ocuk dont sell junk, so any PSU that has their branding will be ok for single gpus like a 2900XT.

Its not like a £15 450W PSU you get from other shops...

Ordered it now so i hope it will cant see it not being able to i had it on the psu in my sig with 2 cdrom's 2 HD's e6600 clocked at 2.8 but just wanted someone else is view.

Also MR.paul did you even look at the psu? (thanks for the input)

Just found a little bit of info, the Huntkey 450w green star has 32amps over both the 12v rails. Whether this is the same as the OcUK one I don't know, but it would just about power it ok. Overclocking wise it may fall over, but at stock he should be ok :)

Theres a difference between running ok and being 100% stable no matter what settings or load.
I'd say its fine either way, its a beast of a card. They weigh a ton too but 450w should be enough

Dam looks like it will be going back then. And ye everything would be at stock or should i say would have been.Anyone with the know how want to spec me another psu cheap as poss that will run it on OcUK's webby. And as said before its going to be at stock the card and pc never to be overclocked.

Thanks but over the top like i said i am and have been running it on the psu in my sig with no problems you dont need 600 watt psu at all but ty.And i had the 2900 close to rls date.So i refuss to beleave you need so much power. And very true it is a nice psu. Cheap is what i am looking for not high spec its only got cheap parts in it the new build i am doing for him witn no overclocks what so ever.

£40-50 is the price range i have seen a few and a GOOD 500 watt is all you need tbh .4get his user name but the ATI driver tester who always on here had one on a 450 watt with np.

May as well have a look on the label when it turns up, see if it will have enough to power it, as those huntkey's are all different, i saw a 450w that only had 15a on 1x 12v rail.:)

If not then id get the Crosair VX450, will power it easy, and Corsairs are cracking PSU's, and only £47, just a pity its out of stock at the mo.

That might run it. It nearly ran on my very old Thermaltake Purepower 560w with 22Amps and I had this PSU when I paid £230 for my 3700+ San Diego AMD CPU to support how old this PSU was.

It ran the X1900XT overclocked with X2 3800 @ 2.8Ghz, 1gb DDR400, X-FI xtreme gamer, 2x 250gb drives, 3x 80mm fans and 2x 120mm fans, DVD writer and on the DFI Ultra-D which needed PSU support for added stability. I think that was pretty impressive for that old PSU, especially with 22 Amps on the 12v rail . When I plugged the 2900Pro in it would boot, XP was fully functional but within 10 minutes of playing Pro Evolution it would cut the PC completely off. I wasn't too far off from running it.

This PSU has dual 12v rails with 18Amps on each but with a true calculation of the amps, it reveals a 29Amp combined output which should be enough but I can't guarantee it. It's just a bit hard to find one within that price range.

Tanks guys thats sounds a little more like it not like i am unwilling to pay £60-70 just dont think its needed. He can just about install a game so there is no chance of him ever over clocking it and it wont be on all the time due to his job and not being at home much at all tbh.Think thats why he dont want to spend a arm and leg but be able to play the odd new game if he wants on low/mid settings and the 2900 is more than he needs for settings like that.Plus i am so glad to get rid of hes more than happy with it after being at mine :P
