Im thinking of moving my system into an Overclockers watercooled case and I also need a new PSU as my current PSU is about to kick the bucket.

This is the case I am interested in...

I was wondering,, Would this following PSU provide enough power for my system?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-099-CS

My Current system

i7 3770k
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
128GB SSD
16GB Corsair Vengeance
1TB Seagate Barracuda
MSI GTX 780
DVD Optical Drive

Any info appreciated.

GPU coil whine is normal with any psu so its not guaranteed to remove it. It's impossible to tell without hearing but it could be either bad whine caused by the psu or just the regular kind.

That psu would be fine but you really don't need 650w. With your system overclocked to its max you'd struggle to ever exceed 350w.

I used a Power calculator to determine which PSU Wattage I should buy and it said that my system uses 605W.

It won't use 605w, that might be the wattage psu they recommend which would seem about right. Anything between 550 and 650 is suitable, 650 seems a bit too much for a single gpu system though. It's not ideal to be running a psu at its max output which is why people recommend psus bigger than needed. Anywhere between 50% and 80% capacity when under load is okay.

So the 650w would work fine with the watercooled case I specified?

Yep it would work fine but as far as gold rated psu's go its on the lower end. There's a few other alternatives to consider with longer warranties. That one has only 3 years which is a bit short, most psu's in its price range have 5 years.

If you don't mind losing the modular cables http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-SF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057

or this if it was in stock http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-018-SS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2383

Cheers,

That super flower one seems pretty decent. I suppose it doesnt matter if its modular or not seeing as the cables can be hidden in the Case I am interested in.
As long as you are sure 650W will be sufficient for my power needs!

Anyone else have any input on this???

Modular cables are really nice to have though - you only need to connect the ones you actually intend to use. It makes sleeving simpler too.

When you pick a PSU, try to get one which you will utilise at about 1/2 to 2/3 of is max rated power when under load. That tends to be the sweet spot where many PSU are most efficient.
