Even Gents,
I've started to build a new rig parts so far.
AMD 8150
XFX 6970 Black Edition
8gb Corsair Vengeance
Sabertooth 990FX
Corsair H100
Gigabyte GZ-G2 Case

My question is will an OCZ 750w PSU be man enough?

First message wo0p!

Taaaaaaaaaa

To answer your question yes the psu will power the PC, i advise you not go down the AMD route and go Intel as they are so much better. Maybe get a XFX PSU aswell although i have no expierence with OCZ PSU's.

Whats the budget? and what is the PC gonna be used for?

Yes 750w is more than enough, it would be enough for two 6970's.

One thing though... if you have already got the processor then dont worry, but if you havent then I strongly recommend getting intel instead.

Thanks for your concern :)
But I've actually already built the PC, but I used a budget Winpower 850w PSU.
Waste of time! I didnt realise how vital the PSU was.
However when playing BF3 after around an hour of playing the computer just cut out, so did a bunch of searches and most people said its due to crappy PSU's.
DOH!!
I have a habit of buying things before reading anything about them. I actually brought the OCZ 750w PSU earlier today, then wondered if it would suffice.
Thanks for your help.

Winpower 850w PSU.

Bang.

There's much more to a psu than wattage. Hopefully it's not taken anything with it in a dramatic fashion. What is your maximum budget for a psu? Baring in mind cheap + psu = bad idea as you have just discovered.

edit: I should read more. which OCZ psu is it?

Initially I'd say you'd be fine, but obv depends on the specs of the psu.

Aaww yeh you dont wanna touch cheap PSU's!!

Them winpower ones dont have man amps on teh 12v rail (the rail you need for your GPU and CPU) and are poor quality.

The OCZ you got should be all good though, good choice.

The new OCZ one arrives today hopefully.
The winpower one is still working is running th pc for most things like photoshop and illustrator. All of the components are functioning ok.

Please be aware that OCZ items under RMA need to go back to Holland

It cost me £30 to send my faulty OCZ PSU back to them under warranty

Amazing the amount of people who fail to realise the importance of a quality psu. It powers everything in your PC so a good one is vital. Glad you got it sorted anyway.
