Hi guys,

Im after gettng a new pump for my set up, as my old dtek db1 has sprung a leak sadly.

Set up is as follows..

ThermoChill PA120.2 - 240 Radiator (15mm)
1/2" barbs with 7/16" tubing
EK Supreme LT Acetal CPU Water Block
XSPC Single Bay Reservoir

It will be cooling just the cpu, E8400 @ 3.6ghz (24/7) upto 4.5ghz (for benching, rarely done these days though).

I was thinking of getting the XSPC Single 200 Bay Pump/Reservoir to replace my exsisting res, the pump i think if i remember right has 1.2m head pressure and its flow rate is 200lph, whould this be enough flow rate and head pressure for my needs? as there won't be an awfull lot of tubing involved.

It will be fine for just a cpu block, anything else and you would want to consider something with a bit more omph like the 10w laing ddc

Thanks for that data, kinda thought it would be fine for just cpu, but had to check though.

Yeh i was looking at the laings, but for just cpu only, i kinda thought ouch thats abit pricey, i'll most likely switch to that later down the line when i move over to i5/i7 when ever that is lol.

Thanks again for your reply.

The EK CPU blocks really benefit from a high speed of water entering the nozzles so you want something with a high l/min figure. The head figure gives you an indication of how much back-pressure it can overcome so higher head ratings mean you can add more blocks to the loop without sacrificing flow.

If you compare the Laing 10W and the XSPC single bay reservoir pump with your existing DB-1 you will see what a bargain the DB-1 is. And why it matched your loop so well - highest possible water speed without spoending money on head you didn't need.

DB-1: 500l/hr and max. head of 2m - £30
Laing DC 10W: 420l/hr and max. head of 3.7m - £50
XSPC 200 Bayres pump: 200l/hr and max. head of 1.2m - £30

If you don't want another D-Tek DB-1 (and why not?) then the EK (Phobya) pumps are very highly rated with the EK blocks.

Well its not so much that i don't want another d-tek, or even the phobya variant of it, i did actully order the phobya one the other week from overclockers only to get a call saying they had no stock, even when it showed when i ordered there was, go figure lol.

I guess i was looking at the combined bay res/pump as it frees up space, and less tubing, i won't be ordering till next month, so i still may get another db1 (or variant).

It does make more sense to get the db1, over the bay one, as u said i'll have a re-think and go from there, thanks for ur input wja much appreciated.
