1gb DDR2 Ram

What do you guys reckon...should this keep me happy for a few years ?

Anything that I have missed ?

I agree with the 2gb ram call, it really does help with newer games.
I'd say you should probably be looking at changing the PSU from your old spec, wouldn't want it blowing up and taking out your shiny new stuff...

In general though, the stuff you have decided on would blow your P4 setup away!

Yeah i agree with both statements so far.. 2GB ram essential and also Good PSU 500W/min the OCZ modstreams are good value. If your current 450W is just a budget oem psu then you really will need a new PSU.

Half life 2 I had no problem running on:

2GHZ
768MB RAM
64MB Radeon 9000.

And I even ran it fine on a geforce 3 mx.

Imo the source engine is designed for all machines.

Oblivion, one gig of ram is fine for that, but 2gb for futureproof. I have 1GB RAM, and I run Oblivion max, I have many mods, like landscape mods which use even more RAM. I have issues with lag in it though.
