Just looking into a budget upgrade, and spec'd myself the following.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are. I noticed AMD dual core CPU's are a bit cheaper then Intel, hence the choice.

If anyone knows how i can improve the spec, and keep near the same price (try not to go over!) that would be nice.

Well, my current pc is about 4-5 years old and can handle TF2 ok, but i would like a bit more oomph.

Im basically looking for a budget gaming rig (not going to be playing stuff like crysis on it, Source engine will most probably be the most intense thing it will play)

problem is i have no idea what parts to go for. Im really out of date with graphics processors etc.

bah, i wasnt thinking. i did have an Intel chip in the basket, but noticed the AMD's are cheaper, although no idea if they are faster/as fast/slower

so apart form the obvious **** up, would this be a suitable budget gaming rig for moi?

also, what kind of PSU will i need? would my current old Enermax one do? its powering an ATX mobo, and its about 300w. Uses the long thin power connector and the small 4 pin one.

ideally id like to throw in a new cheap case + new psu, but sadly they are rare on OcUK :(

any insight to the psu query?

also, could i save a few quid by going for slightly lower spec RAM? say PC2 5300/667mhz instead of 6400/800mhz?

still on topic, although if this isnt allowed, please remove.

i found a system from an internet based company for £225 with the following spec:

Intel Pentium D 3ghz
2gig PC5300 667mhz DDR2 RAM
250gig HDD
nVidia 7200TC 512mb RAM graphics card
Asrock mobo
Case + PSU
and a dvd rw. (dont need but its in there)

would anyone say thats a good/okay/rubbish/total **** deal?

thanks
