Will this struggle?

ok, ordering my motherboard and gfx card today.
current setup is :
AMD ATHLON II X2 250 AM3
GA-M52LT-D3
2x2GB TeamXtreem Dark 1333MHz
Nvidia 7200GS
GZ-X1
700w Evo Labs Modular PSU
Windows 7 64bit HP

will be ordering a AsRock 890FX DELUXE3 and either HD6850 or HD6870 (not sure which is best value for money) and just wondered what will this be able to handle. will be using a 42" TV as the monitor so will want to ideally play at high res. want to play games like NFS:HP, F12010, Fifa2011, COD range etc. not sure how intense these are on graphics/cpu/ram.
any input appreciated.

Why the new motherboard? Surely you could plug your new card into the one you've already got and save your pennies towards a CPU upgrade.

coz my current motherboard is very limited. would like to get the base sorted now, rather than mess about with cpu/ram only to have to redo it in a few months when i replace the mobo.

No, it won't struggle, but don't expect massive frames.

A 42" will likely have 1080p res - easy enough for the HD6950 to cope with, but the X2 may begin to bottleneck.

When you get the new board, try and reach around 3.6-3.8GHz with your X2, should reduce any potential bottleneck.

Might be worth spending £110 on a Phenom II X4, buying a cheaper mobo, and getting a less powerful graphics card (because something like a HD5850 will eat games at 1080p res).

the cpu and ram will be done in the next few months, i want to get a mobo that will cover most of the newer technology like USB3, and one that isnt just bought for budget purposes. im not sure how reliable AsRock are now, but i havent read a lot of bad things about them recently. i never really max out the settings like AA or anything as i am used to my PS3, which, lets be honest, is nice, but not amazing graphically, thought GT5 was a real let down.

reading the reviews, at stock the HD6850 should manage pretty high res without a huge loss in frame rates, and apparently the gigabyte one is a good overclocker. never oc'd a gfx card so dont know how easy/safe it is though.

Spot on!

It's a bit of a waste spending £100+ on a motherboard to stick a dated dual core in it. You really need a phenom if you want to play a game with decent frames, or at the very least an athlon quad.

I would upgrade my cpu, get a cheaper mobo. This may be a better option.

Just read your last post: This will be a significant improvement over a ps3. Asrock are fine now, they are actually owned by Asus. The mobo I suggested certainly isn't budget and will do all that you need.

i get all my bits at cost through work, so can only order through our supplier. price wise, the AsRock mobo isnt a lot higher than the gigabyte one you linked, and does have a lot more features.
