Hi all,

Just looking at this:

Link removed as OcUK sell surge protectors - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=702&catid=55&subid=1209

So when the device in the master socket is off, the slave sockets will turn off automatically.

If I was to have the PC in the master, and monitors and some mains powered LED lights in the slave sockets... Would this cause any harm to the monitors? I guess it would be like pulling the power cable from the monitor, rather than using the button to turn them on and off.

What do you think, would there be any difference in using the button on the monitor or using this socket? My guess is there will be no harm done, just wanted to check

Thanks! :)

I went for a Masterplug SRPMSTU82PB

Worked absolutely perfect... Right up until yesterday! I only had it for just over a month so that's pretty bad.

The master/slave feature appears to have failed randomly, so the slave sockets are just always on (I suppose that's better than them always being off, at least it is still useable)

Just spoken with the retailer and I've got a replacement being sent out, then I'll send this back

While it worked... I think it was a great product

There are mixed reviews online about it though, some people also having this master/slave feature failing

Thanks for the info, I'll have a read around. Sadly most of OcUK's surge protectors are OoS.

Yeah, if I were you I'd still be tempted to get the masterplug, it is a really nice product. Also has the two usb charging ports which is nice

And I am guessing it must come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty anyway if it fails within that time

Just to add some info, it turns out the product wasn't actually faulty, it just required resetting using the 'set' button so it can re-learn the voltage / current at which it turns the slave sockets off

It is now working fine, although I'm not sure how or why it needed resetting
