Will this take an upgrade?

in a word no.

it's a pci-e x1 slot, you need a pci-e x16 slot to take full advantage of that card.

you may be able to file down the slot, so the card runs at 1x

Thanks for the quick replies:D

Yeah, that's what I thought you'd say..I was originally going to go for that board, but as I'm planning on doing a bit of gaming on the machine, I was going to go for the cheaper board, and then a seperate more powerful gpu.

I'll prob go for the better motherboard, and then see how it goes, maybe upgrade at a later date.

Thanks again:)

Looks canny the other board though, got a half decent gpu on it anyway, could put off the gaming upgrade for a bit with that depending on what you want to do with it, also got wifi and HDMI output, handy.

You speak the truth, will see how it goes with the onboard, then if I want more (which I probably will knowing me) I'll have more time to save up and get a better GPU.

Thanks for all the help.

Does it have to be an itx mobo? You do realise that if you do decide you do want a new gpu you'll have to save for a new mobo and a new gpu? I'd look to future proof the mobo now.

Has to be ITX yes.

I'll be going for the more expensive one, which has a 16x PCI Express port on it, so when/if I want to upgrade I'll just plug in my new card, disable the on-board graphics and it should work.

At least that's the plan...unless i'm missing something crucial?!

don't get the cheaper model, you know that it'll be pants for gaming..

just bite the bullet and get the more expensive board, it'll be better for gaming as standard (still not great though), and will allow for a future upgrade

don't cut off your nose to spite your face :)

plus that esata and the extra usb2 ports will be handy (as well as the wireless), damn fine board there :)

really looks canny. Always wanted to build a HTPC, if i did that more expensive board would be right top of my list.
