Just wanted to know if this is a wise option, or if I should keep on the 775 due to currently having water cooling and needing to buy a new cpu block for the amd set up.

Also would I see much of an increase of going crossfire? I wouldnt be looking to spent much more on another gfx due to having the 4850 for less than a year! Or would I be better keeping the £80 in my back pocket and just upgrade the mobo & cpu and get a new cpu waterblock?

Thanks

Processor will be slower in single threaded and dual threaded applications (like games). Crossfire 4850s is like investing in old tech, for the same money you'll get a much better performance improvement by selling on the current 4850 and buying a better graphics card, which will also transfer over to whatever you end up replacing the c2d system with.

Avoids driver issues with crossfire too.

If youre struggling in games then pick up a 5850, should be a nice boost, if games are ok and its just general desktop improvement youre after Id wait til youve got about 400 saved and do mobo/cpu/ram then (i5/AM3), as you say though WC blocks push everything up

Well went away and had a bit more thought on it, how would this spec look, I was thinking that it gives me the option of spending 50 - 70 to help on the gfx if i decide to go xfire?

I think it is more of a cpu upgrade needed rather than gfx, in tf2 i struggle to get 30fps, however a mate with a more powerful cpu gets 3-4x that.

I am very impressed with how long the 6300 has lasted, I would like to think that my next upgrade would last another 3-4 years again.

Thanks
