Hey,

Well my Focus comes with 195/55 R15's as standard. Well i noticed when playing about with a tyre size calculator (yes i know im sad) that it would only just be slightly out if i used 215/50 R15's instead. It would apparently be that im doing 60.1mph when im doing 60mph indicated. Now i have no clue on tyre fitting etc so does anyone know whether 215/50's can go on wheels that originally have 195/55's on them?

They will fit, but they won't be ideal, bulge at the sides etc. I know people who do this purposely as it apparently adds lateral (I think) grip so they say, I'm dubious.

(I may be wrong though)

If you're after cheaper tyres just get 195/50's but just be aware that the speedo will be ever so slightly out.

You can get away with 10mm out one way or the other, but I wouldnt put 215 tyres on 195 rims. I wouldnt trust the car on the limit and I doubt it would do much for the handling.

I wouldnt put anything other than what the wheel was designed for on a road car. If you are just putting cheap tyres on for track drifting, then fair enough.

Ahh okies i wasnt sure :) I was hoping for accually a little more grip from my tyres. Though since posting i have noticed i can get Toyo T1-R's for £46 each.

My currect wheels are 6 wide. I think ill stick with my current size then. :p
