Hi All

We are abouts to move house. Sadly we dont have a telephone line in the room we want to use as an office, and we cant really run an extension socket. So, as I have a spare access point I am planning to set the network up as below. Will it work.

Before anyone suggests it... I dont want to use wireless on the desktop pcs, as we share files and use the NAS drive a lot, over wireless this tends to be very slow. Also wireless is forever disconnecting on my BFs machine, so I want to switch it to wired.

Can anyone see any obvious problems with this, or do you have any suggestions

Thanks in advance

No obvious issue with it, except that PCs 1 and 2 and the NAS box are going to be limited by the wireless connection if they're connecting to something outside their own little segment.
Need an AP that'll do working as a client of the router too.

Hey Tolien

I thought about the limitation outside their segment, then occured to me that they dont really connect to anything outside the segment, except ocassionally to dump stuff on the media PC, which is rarely used anyway (waste of money?)

I have a 3com access point that can be set to get ip from dhcp etc, so that should be ok.

Thanks
Aaron

Just because it can get details by DHCP doesn't mean it'll be happy working as a bridge though... what model is it?
