Hi guys,

Got a question for you...

Bought a few parts last night from OcUK, but am concerned now about the PSU i chose...

I bought the Akasa 500W Ultra Quiet model PSU and was planning on using it with an Asus P5W DH mainboard, E6600 & an ATI 1900XT or even 1950XT.

When i called OcUK to confirm the PSU was good enough, i was told it may be worthwhile upgrading to a Tagan R580W, but it was too late as they had packaged my order already (so quick!!!). When i phoned back, another person said there should be no problem with the Akasa PSU i'd ordered, so, can anyone confirm the the PSU will power my desired rig? Or will i need to send it back and upgrade the PSU before i can run the items mentioned above (specifically the GPU)?

Thanks

That should be fine as long as you're not running quite a few harddrives, cd-drives and dvd drives alongside that spec.

AGREED.

The problem with Radeon X19XX cards is they draw around 22 Amps from the 12V Rail.

SLi rated power supplies only need to chuck out 20 Amps.

As long as you are only running the one single X1950 then it will be fine.

If you upgrade to Crossfire then you will almost certainly need a new PSU.

Full ATi Crossfire kit tried, tested and guaranteed by ATi here:
