hi guys, thinking about the future and was wondering if you could use an 8800 for example to power 2x 30" monitors, and then a cheaper pci-e or pci graphics card to power an lcd HD tv?
hmm. not sure how the 30" with this requirement would work ..
- Before purchasing this product make sure you have a compatible graphics card that supports Dual Link DVI / DVI-D such cards are the ATI X1300/X1600/X1800/X1900 series and NVIDIA 7800 series graphics cards.
someone with a 30" should confirm if you use one or both of the outputs to supply the monitor.
I'd say it depends at what resolution you want to run the 30inch screens at and what you want to do with them. At full res playing games over 2 30" screens on the one card, I doubt you could run on high settings, but for general desktop use you would likely be fine (depending on res).
As for the pci/e card > lcd tv. What would you want to output onto this screen, would you need both outputs from the 8800 at the same time as using the lcd tv?
Which model 8800 is it? GTX, GTS? And who is it made by? I think all 8800s should be ok at desktop/application level. Best thing to do is contact the card manufacturer and ask them.
