Anyway will the above network work?

PC1: This will be running Windows Vista Ultimate and will be wired

PC2: This will be running Windows XP and will be wireless

Laptop: Will probably be running Mac OSX(Havent bought it yet) and will be wireless

Fileserver: What OS to run on this? Wanting it so that the other Computers on the network can access the drive in this computer like a network drive type thing. This will also contain a iTunes libary that will need to be shared with the other computers.

Is this possible with the hardware ive got? Does anyone see any problems with the above setup or have any tips?

Thanks, BEn

If you're looking to use the fileserver as a network drive (as you mentioned), it might be worth your while checking this out; http://www.freenas.org/. It's a unix OS, built up from M0n0wall, and designed specifically for the task you wish to carry out.

Also as for your network, it looks fine. You shouldn't encounter any problems that I can see. :)

Only trouble is, i need to be able to use iTun es on the fileserver as its secondary purpose is to host the songs avalible to the other computers

There's a linux service that'll appear to machines running iTunes as another iTunes instance and works as an "iTunes server" of sorts. Can't remember it's name, but it should be easy enough to find.

Edit: mt-daapd
