Hi guys,

I am currently having problems with my router and xbox live, here is what happens :

I can log into xbox live fine but cannot join games or chat with people,
The 3 pcs in the house can all access the internet fine,
The ps3 accesses through wireless fine,
If i plug the 360 direct to the modem it works fine,

So i think i have narrowed it down to the router killing my xbox live, but... this is the only router i have ever had that handles all 3 pcs without any hiccups whilst playing online games so i don't really want to get rid of this,

My question is, if i got a switch to sit inbetween my modem and router would that work? eg, modem---switch with 360 and router plugged in----router to everything else?

If it makes no sense i will try to draw a diagram,

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Here is a very simple diagram

I imagine you need to forward ports to the Xbox to make it work, and no what you propose won't work unless you have multiple public ip's, which i doubt.

I have all the right ports forwarded and have even put my 360 in a dmz to test, I have been on the phone to MS for ages, and also been on the phone to d-link

It just seems like xbox live doesn't like my router at all

You have to use a router on your suggestion if you want to have more than one machine on the internet, try another router if you can.
