Me and my mates are getting real bored in the boarding house. We all have pretty good laptops that can play most of the latest games is there any way that we can have a wlan tournament? we don't have a wireless router to connect to, so i was wondering if there was anyway i could set up my laptop so they could connect, but also let me play with them.

Is this possible?

Thanks

I think you can if your wireless adapter allows it to be set up as a wireless access point.

Not unless you have software that'll make the wireless card in one machine work in infrastructure mode as an AP.

Yeah I though so, I think best op can do is get everyone to chip in and buy your self a cheap wireless hub/router.

No. That only enables ICS, it won't change anything with your wireless card. You're not looking to change it into a router, but into a wireless access point.

Me and my mate used to do an Ad-Hoc wireless connection between our 2 computers to play games. Only this it works with 2 computers though.

Really left field - but if you have 2 wireless connections in each machine (built in plus a cheapo usb one perhaps?) could you not set up a ring of ad-hoc networks with each one bridged?

ie:

1>2&3
2>3&1
3>1&2

So machine 1 has the internal card ad-hoc'd to 2 and the USB dongle to machine 3, with the 2 connections bridged?

Building from that, what would happen if you had more and daisy chained them ie:

1>2&3
2>3&4
3>4&5
5>1&2

All of them are now connected to each other via others within the loop - would it work?
