I have a Sony DAV-S800 5.1 Digital Home entertainment system spare, am just wondering if I will be able to use it with my PC? As far as I can see it would.

Here is what I have:

Here is a piccy of the Amp's connections on the rear:

It had really great sound quality even off the scart, which is analogue so I'm intrigued to know what the digital is like. We only used it a few times so it's still basically brand new.

So basically, you can see where the speakers and woofer go into the Amp, but then I am wondering if I could use a Optical Audio Cable from the 'Optical Digital In' from the SP/DIF on my motherboard and put it inot the amp?

Surely this would work? Just want to know before I start unpacking it all, and I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to audio! :)

Will also get a soundcard very soon if it does work.

Cheers!

Just noticed, will require a TOSlink Optical cable coming from the Amp, then it will have to go into a TOSlink to Coxial Signal Converter and then a Coxial Optical Cable from the signal converter into the SP/DIF in my motherboard?

Pleeeaaaaassseee can someone help, I really have no clue?

Fraid I've been a bit of a noob, but my mobo does have Optical OUT, never noticed it before! So will go out and buy a TOSlink cable tomorrow and test it out!
