First time poster long time lurker and sorry for another "help me with my rig" post but you guys are the guru's and know your stuff.

I have been lucky enough to get a tax rebate this week (just in time for RIFT) and have decided to get a new PC.

I need this PC to last 2 maybe 3 years as I'm spending double what I would normally spend and my rigs tend to last 18-24months before I get rid of them.

I only use my PC for gaming nothing else and only use it for MMO's not for FPS or anything like that.

here was what I came up with (a mixture of the 2 sandybridge pre built rigs)

Asus GeForce GTX 580 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Asus P8P67 DELUXE Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750HXUK)

Corsair Hydro H70 High-Performance CPU WaterCooler

Coolermaster HAF 922 Case - Black

EDIT: found this Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX) which doesn't need to use sata II old: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache this will make it even safer ?

LG GH22NS50 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)

I was hoping to get another 580 but just can not afford it at the moment but would look to getting another further down the road when the price isn't as high.

It's a little over budget so was thinking of maybe getting 4gb of ram instead as I haerd more than 4gb for gaming is an overkill.

would it be better to SLI two "lesser" cards or is a single 580 a better choice ?

I know there are some sandy bridge issues atm but as I only need to use 2 ports it shouldn't be a problem and was thinking that this would last longer than say a amd 1100t or i7 950 ?

Sorry for some newb questions just I don't know all that much and is anyone could give me some advice I would eb very greatfull.

This is a lot of money to spend on a PC(well it is for me) and I don't wanna regret it

kind regards

great advice with the mobo, just saved 50quid :)

I was thinking about the overclocked bundle but do you only get 12months warranty with that instead of the 3years if you buy them separate ?

EDIT: On a side note is it worth going for a IDE DVD tbh I only ever use it once in a blue moon for loading games and the odd CD

You should stick to 8GB i think ram prices are really nice right, and as 95thrifles I would look at dropping down to 560, its a really nice overclocker and gets to 570 speeds and should lasts you a good while.

the problem with 8gb is that the over clocked bundle only comes with 4gb and it states that no more should be added

non overclock cpu + 8gb of ram or overclocked cpu and 4gb of ram more I look into stuff the less I know :(

Spoke with them today and they confirmed that is a retail chip, just waiting for them to send that in writing and I'll be placing my order :)
EDIT: "Yes our bundles certainly come with the Retail version of the chip, meaning you will get your 3 year warranty". That's the email I just got if anyone else was wondering

thanks again everyone
