Hi there.

Does anyone happen to know if Time Splitters 2 or 3 will work on XBox One?

I know they are pretty old games, but would definitely be great to play them again.

Thanks.

No, they won't. They're not on the (much larger) list of Xbox games which are backwards compatible on 360 either. So you'd have to buy an Xbox (original).

Only other way would be using Retroarch via Dev Mode. But I don't know if the Xbox One is up to the task? Series X|S certainly would be, but the Xbox One's CPU could be a problem.

Thanks very much for that.

Do you happen to know of any similar 2-player first person shooters that might be worth a look at, for the Xbox One?

My son used to play Time Splitters 2 on an old PS2, before we replaced it with an XBox.

I assured him that Time Splitters would work, so I need to try and wiggle my way out of it with something else .

Call of duty, etc. Basically any popular split screen modern FPS.

I understand that you want a modern time splitters but there isn't anything like it on console anyway.

Team fortress 2 on pc is worth a shout.

There's so many old franchises that were top tier yet died out.

Goldeneye on N64
Destruction Derby
Twisted metal
Vigilante 8
Driver
Command and conquer

You have to just put up with modern crap which is nowhere near as fun or good and focusing on keeping you playing because of grinding/progression rather than enjoyment.

The only other thing I can think of would be a modern day quake, unreal tournament or the likes of there is one.

The sad thing is I've aged all those games and agree:(. I seem to remember vigilante 8 second offense was promised a sequel but it never happened (was fun upgrading cars though).

Me and my mate played vigilante 2nd offense religiously. I remember it being amazing and completely ground breaking in terms of all the different things involved. The levels were also fantastic. I remember one where you had to go down like a shoot or a slide, like a ski slope, etc.

I then went and watched a YouTube video and that's nothing like what I remembered. The graphics looked awful but I'm guessing cameras on phones from back then were awful too and so was the encoding, etc.

There's so many great games that just disappeared and now we are left with essentially modern day tomb raider type games which have evolved.

God of war
Cyberpunk
Assassin's creed
Last of us

All of them are similar games in terms of you control a character and play through a story and collect stuff, beat bad guys.

Car games are all racing or real life simulation rather than pure fantasy of vigilante 8 where it's vehicle Vs vehicle FPS.

Rocket league is the only modern game that's decent on a console for local multiplayer. Yet it's so basic. Imagine a mode with weapons, bigger arenas and more vehicles, etc.

I'd love a game like destruction Derby, driver which is essentially GTA now or vigilante 8. Twisted metal I think is making a come back but I preferred 2nd offense it was a lot better but apparently twisted metal stayed around longer.
