Will we ever see a new Mac Pro?

I believe the last refresh was around 2010. I'm going to assume a low end Mac Pro 2012 will be faster than a high end iMac when or if a New Mac Pro gets released. I like to switch between Mac OS and Windows on my Feb Macbook Pro. Say I feel like playing a game for a bit I switch to windows for example.

Now if I got a 1k for my 15" MBP and instead of buying the iPad 3 when it comes out put that to my new computer funds it wouldn't be too long before I had 2k. I already have The full size apple keyboard and Magic mouse etc. So when I've done creating videos etc and decide to play some RPGs I'm sure the dedicated graphics card would make a huge difference instead of the mobile GPUs Apple like to put in iMacs.

I'm also pondering keeping my MBP and building a seprate PC for gaming but I already have computers all over the place and I want to condense everything.

What to do, Oh what to do????

I'd sell everything I own to buy a Mac Pro. lol

We've been over this on the forum, but I think it's mostly been through other threads, rather than it's own dedicated one.

There was an article somebody posted towards the end of last year where Apple themselves had said that they weren't sure about the future of investment in the Mac Pro. It didn't necessarily suggest that they were thinking of scrapping the machine, but that it was possibly unlikely that it would get a total redesign.

If you really think about it, the design of the machine itself is fine and people who need them have and will continue to buy them, obviously even though the sales figures are tiny compared to their other products. Ultimately an expensive redesign isn't going to make professionals or businesses necessarily want to buy all new machines. It's obviously very different to the more consumer orientated machines which often have new designs and features that make people desperate to buy a new machine.

We can start worrying about if the MP will be updated when, and only when, Dell et al have been shipping E5 powered workstations for a few weeks.

Up until then the ball is firmly in Intel's court.

I'm sure we will but I got fed up with waiting and bought a top spec iMac instead. I was looking to drop a lot of cash on a Mac Pro.

Should have bought a 2009 2.66 and put a W3680 and 24GB ram in it.

That would have set you back about £1600/1700 and would be faster than the iMac :p

And where's the screen in that? :p

Well you were planning on buying a Mac Pro, so you were clearly going to buy yourself a screen anyway ;)

Lining myself up for a W3680 over the next two months if SB-E doesn't come up for sale any time soon.

Didn't want to do a W3680 swap whilst under warranty, but given that ends on the 1st April I'm kinda running out of time!

Wow, £570 is cheeeeeepy cheep cheep.. I have to agree with Roy, wouldn't touch that with a barge pole. Even assuming that they had AppleCare that potentially just ran out you should be able to get way more than that.
