Would love to give it a try even if its just a show floor demo! Theres soo much coming out and wouldnt want to buy it and not play it as theres other stuff on the way!

But its id software, aurely they know what they are doing!

I loved doom 3! First pc game that made me realise how awesome pc ganes could look etc! Playe it at a friends when we were too young to play it! Nightmares :)

Went to Eurogamer over the weekend. There were around 40 Xboxes set up with a version of the game. (No PC's). Very impressed - it's so smooth on the console, which I was very surprised at. Looks pretty darn impressive too!

It's also ID's 20 year anniversary - Tim Willets gave an amazing talk about his take on ID's history and showed us a nice easter egg within Rage ;)

I went to Eurogamer as well but missed id's talk. Can you give us quick rundown of what he said? :)
The main focus of his talk was concerning ID's 20 years in making games. (He skipped the Commander Keen titles). He went on to speak about how he got in to the industry (used to be a college football mascot... for real), then he discussed the cultural impact of the titles and how they have influenced the market today.

Whilst he didn't go in to lots of 'technical' detail about Rage, he did emphasize that it is a true 60hz game and that that is what makes it play so smoothly on the consoles.

He then played about 15 minutes of the game in front of us all. All I can say is... Sadist. He spent a while shooting a corpse in the head with the shotgun!

He came across as a very personable and excitable orator whose passion for the industry he was in was there for all to see.

I believe the whole thing was officially recorded, so hopefully the full thing will make its way on the internet at some point :)

I remember Carmack said they should have started the ground work on PC then port it to consoles in hindsight. In reality they did the opposite.

Makes me think PC will be.......what it always is when it's a console port. Although its id, lets wait and see.

Oh, another thing. Near the start of the talk he had some images of the ID team "then" and "now". The then photo was the five of the original team and the now photo was the current team... more specifically he said something along the lines of...

(Paraphrasing here)

"...and this is the team now. Well, this is the Rage team. We have another team working on something else at the moment..."

It wasn't a Q+A which is a shame because I was going to be cheeky and ask what the other team were working on :P

Regarding the PC comment there were very few PC's at Eurogamer - off the top of my head the only game that had Consoles and PCs was the BF3 hands on. Almost everything was console. Don't worry too much, Carmack is a stickler for things being the best they possibly can - console/PC, I'm sure he will be focusing on making the experience great for everyone.

:)

He might have meant Doom 4, and iirc another title yet to be disclosed that they're working on.

Sounds promising! Ive seen a few interviews with that guy and hes very passionate about the game!

Unsure about the vehicles tho but may be good if well implemented!
