Will X1950 XT-X master edition work with non crossfire mobo?

yup it'll work alone but if your only using it alone dont buy the CF edition save afew quid

Yeah, I really would if they had it. I was gonna go for the sapphire version (non CF) but, as you might know, it's out. So I'm just going for the CF ATi version and using as a single card on a non-cf board (assuming this works). It's £10 more, I think I can afford it ;)

I wouldn't bother with the x1950 XTX, id just get the far cheaper x1900 XT, clock it to XTX speeds which it will easily do, and there you have it an x1950 XTX but with GDDR3 instead of GDDR4 Ram, there going for £205 in the clearance section, or if you want the same cooler get the HIS x1900 XT ICEQ3 SILENT, either way you have an x1950 XTX for a lot less. :)

x1950 XTX is a waste of money when you can get the x1900 XT clocked to XTX speeds for the same performance.

What are you on about mate, there are plenty of standard x1950xtx's in stock, you don't need a master. But as said above, it's really not worth it over the x1900xt.

If you don't even have ATI Crossfire motherboard why buy the Mastercard? No point at all, just paying extra. Slightly different if you have same mobo as me and fitting a new card, you could then fit standard 1900 XT card later.

Personally though just buy the X1900XT. The 1950 isn't worth the extra. Better to put that elseware, ie another hard drive.

But will it work!!??

Yes. But in your case just buy the standard one. There is no point at all buying the mastercard and fitting it into a Nforce motherboard, it's no faster, you're paying extra for something that isn't usable, even if you wanted dual card setup you'll need to buy another motherboard (Crossfire) The 1950 series isn't worth the extra over the 1900 series anyway, so just buy the cheaper X1900XT non mastercard version (512MB if using high rez monitor)

I would definitely go for the Sapphire version if it wasn't out of stock, I've heard bad things about HIS and Connect 3D.

I'm not really into OC'ing either, that's why my choice was/is narrowed to the CF version of the card the plus being it's ATi's official card.

why my choice was/is narrowed to the CF version of the card

Why? FFS Having mastercard will be EXACTLY THE SAME as the standard card in your (and mine if in single config) machine.

Just get the standard non mastercard version.

They're all the same make wise, so just buy the cheapest. It does appear the HIS fans do pack up, but it's one of the best stock coolers.

You don't need proof, a master card will work on its own like any other card, it only has the compositing chip on it that crossfire requires, thats why its more expensive than the other cards, but your wasting your time buying it as it will not be using the compositing chip, it will be running as a normal card, so your paying extra for a chip that is gona sit there doing nothing, but if you want to, then go for it as it is up to you, but i wouldn't pay for a chip that i aint gona use. :p

Its like a motherboard, say a one without onboard sound was £50, and the same board with onboard sound was £100, you have a soundcard, therefore no need for the onboard sound, so are you going to buy the £100 board with the onboard sound, put in your soundcard, then disable the onboard sound in the BIOS as you have a soundcard, or would you buy the board without the onboard sound as you have a soundcard. :D

Don't forget that the composting chip goes in place of the Avivo chip, so you'll lose that if you do get a CF card on it's own...

Is this talking generally or just about this card?
