mmmm Rothmans Williams F1 car. Best F1 car there was and ever will be :)
You know your F1 I can say. Other F1 fans might like the Lotus John Player Special livery but in my F1 viewing lifetime I've not seen a car with a livery as beautiful as the Rothmans liveries that Williams sported for the mid 90s.

Looks like rFactor being used for the simulator there. And the difference in the design and structure of F1 cars from JV's 1997 car to this years is quite stunning. Its hard to believe it was ten years ago that Williams' FW19 was the car that won the title.

Did you get a good look at the side of Villeneuves FW19?

There's a nice rubber mark on the sidepod where a certain lederhose wearing sausage sucker tried to take him out of the race at Jerez in 97. ;)

It's a very nice place that Williams have. The museum is very cool indeed. Goes right the way back to when they were Brabham customer cars.

Some good shots for what are unbelievably difficult conditions to take shots in. Same at the Donnington Collection - just too damn dark. But light causes issues with some of the cars. UV decomposes carbon fibre for a start.

Oh... did the girl crash the simulator? ;)

John Player Special was pretty nice, very effective. Gold Leaf Team Lotus wins for me though. I am biased though. Lotus boy born and bred, and I had an Elan in that colourscheme. :D

There is something good about the McLaren Silver Arrow scheme they have at the moment though, and the previous version. Silver just looks right.

The older cars are just so much better to look at that the new cars.

F1 car design peaked with the McLaren MP4/4 which is a stunningly beautifly simple car design. Pretty doiminant too. 15 wins from 16 races

The Gold Leaf was the first livery in F1 no? Lotus were the first team to sign sponsors in F1?

I'd say that the McLaren liveries since 1997 (West) have been very nice. The silver and black has, as you say, worked very well. Personally this years is too red for me. The other day I saw a pic of a McLaren fitted with new wings, so new in fact they'd not visited the paint shop before being flown out to be put on the cars. The front and rear wing were black not red. Made the car look much, much better imho.

And I remember reading somewhere, perhaps in F1 Racing, that Ron Dennis was very proud of the West liveried McLarens as McLaren themselves owned the copyright to the silver/grey scheme and had fitted West in to it, rather than design the livery around West.

The Marlboro McLaren livery was also a classic and ran for about 24 years I think? Was one of the longest ever sponsorship deals in F1 I remember hearing when Marlboro and McLaren parted ways.

True that. This years Williams in the OPs photos looks very, very nice. The Ferrari darker red looks gorgeous. But in terms of car design, F1 between 1995 and 1998 was my favourite ear. None of the aero flip-up fandangly nonsense. And those X-wings. :o

Awesome. Would have been a good day. For anyone interested, Honda are opening up their Brackley factory for guided tours etc. next Sunday. Costs £15+£2pnp.
