Willy waving thread: show us your laptops!

You managed to get your finger print reader to work properly then?:p

I spent ages trying to get mine to work, I must have poor fingerprints because it just couldn't read them (even when setting up). There was also a post just before I bought mine about someone's girlfriend using her finger and it unlocking the computer, even though hers wasn't programmed in...

Aha see I knew it was Dell that said it

"With PC assembly time down to less than four minutes, the 30 seconds it can take to apply the ubiquitous security holograms and logos for Microsoft and Intel have become a significant manufacturing bottleneck. Talks are under way to eliminate what Dell production managers grudgingly describe as “other people’s advertising”.

Just got my Toshiba Satellite Pro L650-1CJ. It's absolutely lovely! :D

Specs:

Core i3 350M 2.26GHz
2GB DDR3 (going to upgrade to 4GB as it stutters a tad in games)
15.6' 1366x768 display
ATi Radeon Mobility 5650 1GB GDDR3
320GB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

I'll post some pictures up a bit later :)

Dell XPS M1530 here.

Fingerprint reader (actually very useful)

enh, I had one on my old ThinkPad. Don't have one on my new one. It was cool to have and sort of convenient if it worked first time, but on occasion it could take a few tried before it recognised my print. By that point it would have been substantially faster to just type in the password.

On the plus side, I think fingerprints are stored on some kind of special security chip on the motherboard, making them difficult to remove.

That Toshiba M750 looks sweet.

Best thing I ever bought... oh... wait :D

£1300 laptop for free, the initial one was only £600 secondhand anyway :)

Use it for uni work, take Maths and wanted to use a laptop instead of written notes as their easier to keep track of, and you can't type Maths unfortunately.
So I write it all out on the tablet, makes life so much simpler.
Can even import my lecture notes and write all over them.

Aside from that, make plants vs zombies an even better game!

As per my spec, a Clevo X8100 with 5870m crossfire (basically slightly underclocked 5770 crossfire)
To steal a picture from the net, as below. The GPU setup in it is buggy as its brand new and needs a BIOS update or two to get everything running as it should with the screen, and its quite big, definately a DTR (although not HDX Dragon big)...but my god...for a laptop it's fast.

And no, I didnt pay anywhere near the asking price for various reasons. I'm not insane enough to spend £3k on a laptop :p

Did yours come with an external TV tuner as well as the internal?

Does your have the backlit keyboard.

I never used the Vista64 on mine, It got wiped and installed win7 ultimate which was a Microsoft freebie.

Oh you may find this site handy

http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...v6-gen-2-dv7-gen-3-dv8-hdx16-hdx18-intel.html

Only has an internal DAB-TV tuner and the keyboard isn't lit :(

I bought mine in December 2008 so too early for the Vista/Win7 freebee!... and I missed the Win7 for £35... so I'm still saving (I know its not much, but I'm saving for my wedding too!!).. :)
