Hey guys.

Just looking for some advice / info.

Built a new system as in my sig.

My old 3770k system used the same ssd and booted into windows 7 very rapidly.

My new system is taking around a minute to two to get to the desktop, so I'm thinking something is wrong!

Does the amount of Ram have anything to do with boot times? I know it played havoc getting windows installed.

Currently everything is at stock and all the drivers are current etc

RAM is nothing to do with boot times, it is SSD.

Yes something is wrong with your new system, took around 2 mins to get into Win 10 desktop is not right. I have 1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD with Win 10 took about 6 secs booted to Win 10 lockscreen from power button pressed on 3770K then extra 3 secs to reached desktop after logged in so that around 10 secs which is so much better than my old 2TB HDD took around 2 minutes to reached desktop but I had to waited another few minutes until startup programs loaded into memory so I can launched Edge browser or run a game.

Maybe you need to update your new motherboard BIOS.

Very quick thing to try from a CMD prompt with admin privileges is to run "powercfg /h off"

That'll disable hibernate and fast boot which often cause issues with boot speed, ironically, and slow shutting down.

is it slow getting to the 'login screen' or is slow to get into windows after you login?
If it's the former there could be some 'fast boot' settings that need to be ticked in the bios. If it's the latter then it's likely some program/driver/onlin login or the likes which is loading on boot slowing you down and would need to be looked into.

I normally use ccleaner as it's quick and easy to check my 'startup' items but you can do it the usual way via task manager and task scheduler too.

I agree about hibernate needing to be turned off, not needed really with ssd, but I've never seen it cause issues with boot speed, it's more for space reasons and for reference my pc takes around 10 seconds to load into win10 too.

Its just generally very slow.

Ive enabled fast boot in bios also.

I did the command prompt advice.

It sits on the Asus TUF logo for an age before it moves to loading windows. It sits here again for a long while "loading" you get the spinning spheres / circle whilst its doing it.

The I hit the desktop and whilst it feels responsive in windows I just get the feeling it could possibly be doing more.

I checked the health of my drive in ssd life and its giving it a full bill of health also

I've had that with Vista/Windows 7 where it struggled communicating with devices attached to the PC before it could boot into Windows. I ended up unplugging things until I found which one was causing the slowness - in one case it was an Xbox 360 controller through a USB hub, and in the other it was a HDD on one of the internal SATA ports (that turned out to be dying but I used it so infrequently I hadn't noticed). My suggestion would be to unplug all USB devices apart from your keyboard & mouse and see if it's still slow. If it is, try it without them (you might have to change your BIOS to not give a "no keyboard" error first). If neither of those reveal the culprit, then try just booting up with your SSD boot drive connected and no others. Still having issues, try Memtest x86+ to check your RAM.

Once you've got the system booting quickly again, then add things back on one at a time until you hit the slow down again.

Good luck.

Ensure that boot logo delay is 0 in the startup bios settings.

Also I'd recommend turning off secure boot unless you are particularly liable to getting horrible viruses.
