Win 10 probs after update

So Windows updated today.
Now after logging in with password which it accepts and says welcome, it just sits there with the circle of dots going round and round.
Any ideas? or is itjust Windows being poo poo!

It might be doing stuff in the background, is the HDD LED lit? If not, maybe hard reset and try again.

Have rebooted 3 times. Does the same. Has been sitting there for 40 minutes now the dots still going round and round. That's a lot going on in the back ground

My Windows 10 Home PC has a continual problem with Windows updates. It initially affects the ability to wake up after sleep and requires a hard restart but this eventually morphs into a total inability to get past the splash screen. I'm now testing the 1809 version update after a clean install to see if that is the culprit. If it's all OK then I will turn off automatic updates. Thankfully this is "only" my games machine, I rely on my Mac for everything else.

So still not working. Why put out updates that stop your PC from working, you would think microcrap would know what they are doing.
Guess I've got to do a repair now!

What I've done today is to configure Windows Update to not include driver updates, but will include things like security updates. I have some degree of confidence that this will solve the problem as I'm convinced that it is Windows overwriting manufacturer drivers that has caused my problems. Time will tell!

Have tried booting from win 10 usb media to no avail.
Have removed all hard drives so only got one old mech drive in. Still can not get it to boot.
It comes up with the screen install 64bit or 32 bit
Click on 64 bit does it's long white bar thingy, then give to a screen stating
Windows failed to start
1. Insert win installation disk ( which is already in on a usb drive)
2. Choose language
3. Click repair computer ( I would if it ever comes up)

File \windows\system32\config\system
Status 0xc0000098
Info: The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.

Please let me know how I go about installing Windows?

Am I correct that your Win10 usb media is bootable and that you are selecting to boot from the usb device in the bios?

Windows updates has been one of the biggest problems for people from all operating systems that's been released. I wish they would roll it out like Apple.

Yes it's official win 10 usb stick. Have used it prior to this. But now it's just not running. It is booting from the stick but I can not get pass what I have mentioned above. I don't get any blue screen with the win 10 options just the black screens with white writing

This happened to me last year with a PC I was going to use just to monitor my home cctv system. In the end I swapped out the HDD and put in a new ssd and it worked perfectly. The old ssd was borked it turned out.
