Hi all,

I've an odd issue since I reinstalled Win10 a couple of months ago.

I used to have the usual options of hibernating and sleeping, since the reinstall and update I can either sleep, restart or shutdown.

I've turned off the power management options to turn off screens and hdd's etc.

The other night, I went to bed around midnight, PC was still on so I selected sleep from the login screen and to sleep it went. 20 mins later, it powered back up.

Went to bed at 2am the night before last, put it into sleep mode and it stayed in sleep mode, but then I woke and heard it power up around 07:00.

Due to it's location, it uses a wifi dongle that's unplugged if I'm not using it. It's only got a browser open normally when I sleep it as I always close games when I leave it. No one is touching to to power it back on so it must either be software or a service maybe.

Anyone any suggestions on things to check, where to check or websites covering this kind of info where I can educate myself further. It's not something I've touched on previously.

investigate the powercfg command this will reveal what is causing, and can execute, wake events, and you can also disable them
.... in the past I've had some stupid piece of software scheduling wake up to check for updates (think it was either chrome or windows itself)

Mine changed recently as well, so something in the latest version is doing something differently.
I haven't figured out what yet, but my suspicion would be windows update checking for updates or similar.

As above the fist port of call is powercfg, but for me i end up getting up and sending it to sleep again, I dont want the hastle of looking what the last wake event was at that point. Problem is the next day the last wake event will be me in the morning.
There is another option that logs all these things, but that requires some filtering as well (its a log of all events so is pretty long)
