So anyone have a clue what i can do? ive searched google and this forum for other win 2k password issue but as this doesn't have a CD Drive its hard to get it reset. and i have no idea if the USB is bootable

Only thing i can see is Legacy USB Support

don't think win 2k supports booting from flah drive anyway :o external CD/DVD drive it might have to be then

USB flash booting support is down to the PC, rather then the OS. I'd be amazed that this machine would support it.

You could remove the hard drive, place hard drive in another PC (and I'd disconnect the PC's other hard drives). Do not boot off the hard drive, instead use this;

http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Which can also be found on here; http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

You should be able to wipe the administrator password. Now put the hard drive back in the tough book.

Thanks KC. That did get rid of the password and managed to login and use the laptop. But the registry is very corrupt and its a very small HDD 4GB. So now trying to install XP on another HDD and then trying to get the toughbook to work with other hard drives is a nightmare.

you should at least try and see if it will boot from USB... ToughBooks are VERY well made and i suspect that USB booting is something Panasonic would have included.

How can i make USB bootable?

do i have to copy the xp disk on to the USB?

I cant find anything in bios apart from Legacy USB Support so make it bootable etc?

The ToughBook only has a 4GB HDD (lol) so id like to try to get a 20GB i have in the TB but the bios doesn't notice the HDD. So my other option is to try and update the bios but again its going to be hard to do that

have you tried booting in safe mode?
by default the admin account has no password

i have used offline nt password & registry editor many times before if above has a password. get it here
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ it can be booted off usb

or try this
"at Windows Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu which you can specify User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in “Administrator” (without quote) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there is not password protects the Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator."
