Hello friends,

I want to ask about 32bit 64bit windows-7

I have c2q Q6600 on asus p5q and I’m using creative audigy sound card and xfx 8800gt and RAM is 4GB

Above hardware is running with windows-7 32bit and problem is that I can use only 3GB of my 4GB RAM

So I am planning to install 64bit windows-7 and later (when officially win-7 release) I will buy 64bit win-7 so that I can use full 4GB RAM

but I want to know about my system and sound card + display card -- are these card with work on win-7 64bit without any problem

2nd thing is about software running on my 32bit OS e.g. acdsee divx and other normal gaming + multimedia tools - is there any problem running these tools/app on win-7 64bit

Please help me since it will be my first time that I am going to use/install any 64bit OS

Thanks and sure I will get full support as usual

i want to fix my 4GB RAM issue by installing win-7 64bit
but before that i want to know if there is any problem with xfx 8800gt & creative audigy 2 cards
thnx

most things these days have 64bit drivers, all depends on what you have in your system, graphics drivers are no problem at all, same with creative i would have thought,

as for running 32bit apps and games on a 64bit windows most should be fine, i'm running both xp 64 and vista 64 and have yet to come across any apps or games that have caused any problems, i think you will find most new stuff will work fine on 64bit

Preorder early and you get retail for £49.

Yes, they certainly will. Check the drivers section of both of those components and they already have x64 Win7 drivers.

Just check your Mobo is supported. (I imagine it will be)

None at all. They will run in 32 bit mode, and will be installed in different Program Files directory. It will be called Program Files (x86). If they work on Win7 x86 then they will work on the 64 bit version.

Those items will certainly work. What mobo do you have?

EDIT! You have an asus p5Q, for some reason (beer) I missed that in your post. ha ha ha! No worries with the mobo on x64 then (check sig).

Should be fine. nVidia sorted their x64 drivers out a while ago and surprisingly, so did Creative. I installed one of the more recent Windows 7 x64 builds on my girlfriend's PC with an old Audigy card and there have been no driver-related issues at all.

As for your software, it should be fine. x64 OSes have been around long enough now for recent apps to work fine. Generally speaking if your software doesn't rely on a device driver of some sort it shouldn't have any problems at all.

Give it a go and see for yourself, but you should be fine.
