The only way to go from 32 bit to 64 bit, is via a clean install of your OS, so a full backup of your data is recommended. The full backup can be down from your current Win 7 32 bit.:D

Use Windows Easy Transfer to backup your docs and current windows profile fresh install with the 64bit and then run Windows Easy Transfer again to loade your docs and profile back to what it was..... Only installed programs are the thing you will loose.

In the past I have copied some programs to other OS's by copying the folders in
C:\Program Files also the C:\Program Files\Common Files
then on the new windows install, install the program fresh from the CD/DVD and so all registry entries are installed then copy the data over the top of the this then keeps some or all of settings in the program from your old PC.....

Only works with some programs and can cause more issues... so I would'nt bother lol just thought I put it down to show theres always a way but not aways a viable solution....
Some of the Programs I have done this for and it's been ok are listed below

Sage line 50, 100 & 200
Nero
Power DVD
Half Life 1 & 2
Unreal Tornement
Quake 3
GTA 3, Original & Vice City
many many more
but as you can see there older programs than todays stuff.
