Win 7 64bit - software compatibility ?

Hi

Just wondering - always been a 32bit user but wondering how much "modern" software (not some strange ancient win 95 stuff) will work correctly on 64bit Win 7 ?

is it safe to assume any from last couple of years will be ok ?

any pointers welcome as i've never looked into this before

considering 64bit for a future laptop so i can have a "mega ram" amount :cool:

i'm not a gamer so thinking boring business and web stuff

my idea is to get a new laptop with a 17" screen and 64bit windows
so all new gear - i'll think about it over the xmas holidays

didnt know about the Compatibility Mode - will read up on it

last thing on this

just noticed a dell laptop pamphlet in one of the magazines

actually read it properly for once

apart from 1 , all the laptops were 64 bit win 7 - i'll take that as a sign !
