Hi all

I've just built a new rig using a X99 Sabertooth. The bios recognises the SM951 but when I install Win 97 it doesn't come up with any storage devices? Any ideas?

Thanks

Sorry, it's the NVMe. Yea it is a pain and I've been reading up on the instructions to get it working which seems long winded. I'm tempted just to buy Windows 10 and be done with it.

I'll have a go at doing it otherwise.

Cheers

hi

I'm in the process now of downloading Win 10 (an upgrade from Win 7 pro) onto an old SSD I had.

Once its downloaded id like to clone it to the SM951 and then use that as the boot SSD. Would that work?

Cheers

It would work but I would try fresh installing windows 10 once the upgrade is complete and your motherboard registered.

hi

well I booted from the Win 10.ISO and this time it could see the SM951. Unfortunately, when I selected it an error message came up saying that it couldn't create a partition on it?

Any ideas what to do next, I thought these ssd's could be used in Win 10.

Cheers

AT LAST! done it. the settings in the BIOS were: press F7 > BOOT > CSM Compatibility Module
Launch CSM > Enabled
Boot from Device Control > UEFI and Legacy OPROM

Change the following three settings to UEFI Driver first
Boot from Network Devices
Boot from Storage Devices
Boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices.

cheers

Scratch that. It was booting up fine and then I plugged in some hard drives and now nothing. I unplugged the HDs but still no boot into windows 10. Regret buying this now! gonna try a recovery.

The 950 is better supported and has a proper driver, I don't think the 951 is supported by that driver is it? You could always try downloading it onto a usb drive and loading it in the installer.

when I first of all loaded Win 10 onto the SM951 I still had my Crucial SSD attached. Now it seems that I can only boot into Win 10 if the Crucial SSD is there. Once I disconnect it, the pc only goes into the BIOS.
