Hi all,

So I've mirrored my OS partition to another drive using the Win 7 disk management screen. This was working fine the day I did it, but today I've found that the PC won't boot to either hard drive, and gets stuck on the 'Verifying DMI' bit after POSTing.

I can boot to the Windows 7 DVD and when I go to recovery options it picks up 2 installations, Windows 7 and Windows 7 - secondary plex. Both on C: as its a software RAID1, but really its on 2 drives. When I try to get to the recovery tools, for both of these installations, it says 'This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair'.

It is the right DVD so I'm not sure why this is happening, I can't even get to the recovery console so I can't try fixmbr etc. Can anyone help me with this? Is there another way to boot to a recovery console? :D

It doesn't sound like a software issue to be honest. Verifying DMI pool data, isn't related to your windows installation. I could be wrong!

However, I would try to clear the CMOS if you haven't already. Usually sorts it out.

Ah ok then. Don't use the disc. Just try and tap F8 after POST. It should bring up the advanced startup options, you can then select repair my computer from the top of the list. Same thing without the disc, this might cause you less problems with reading a disc.

Not sure if you will be able to get that far however as IIRC then the message you are getting appears before that stage. Try it and see.

If you fail on that. Backup your data... reinstall and don't use software raid :)
