win 7 - cant delete a file

ive got a file on my desktop, a zip of a font that is 0 bytes but it refuses to let me remove it. tried dragging it into a folder or the recycle bin and get the following msg:

could not find item
the item is no longer located on (desktop path). please verify the items location and try again

really annoying me now, is there any way i can get rid?

Have you tried rebooting first? This usually clears up the issue of not being able to delete such a file.

Try safe mode or boot from a live Linux or ultimate boot disc.
