win 7 hangs at starting windows screen

when starting up it hangs at the starting windows screen. press reset and it gives me the option to repair or start normaly. repair loads files and then hangs at a blank screen went to have dinner came back and now it is stuck at that blue screen with a little bird.

restart with windows disc in the drive this too hangs after loading files.
managed to start repair but it can't fix start up problems, there was an option to do a system restore so I restored to december before a load of updates this was sucssesful.....but after the restart I am stuck at the starting windows screen!

what do I do now?

forgot to add that I just rebuilt after watercooling, I took out the processor to clean some TIM from the side of the chip, at first boot it said something about a new processor but I had to pull the plug as some tissue got caught in the rad fan

check your in ahci mode for sata ports or ide mode,

thanks for replying, I'm in ahci mode.

removed all usb and it still hangs at starting windows
got it back to the windows did not start up do you want to repair, hit repair and then blank screen

fixed it....sort of, the side panel is some how squashing one of the sata or power cables so yeah I posted in the wrong section :cool:
