Win 7 install time;

I am installing win 7 for the first time( clean install)and it is stuck in expanding windows files at 99% for about an hour now.before that it was stuck at 0% for 20 minutes and another 20 minutes at 98%.is this normal?should I reset and start over?spec in sig.

For some reason Win 7 can appear to be stuck. I've heard of several people complain it takes a very long time to install where others have said it takes less than half an hour.

If your disk light is still flashing I'd leave it, actually I'd probably leave it a good few hours anyway as I have seen installs take a very long time. It doesn't seem to impede the resultant system speed either.

Both the disk and DVD drive lights are still flashing.still at 99%,2 hours and 30 minutes and counting...

Wierd... my W7 install took less than 15 minutes.

Got my windows 7 x64 put on a usb drive. to instal now only takes 8 minutes.
much faster than using a dvd

8 minutes?it's been more than 3 hours I will reset and re install

have you had windows 7 installed on the machine in the past?

could be a BIOS setting that needs changed

No it is the first time.I am re installing now and it seems faster,will probably know for sure when it gets passed the expanding windows files status.

I also installed it from USB stick took less than 20mins, really fast just walk away and leave it
