Hello,

I have the gigabyte i7 board
- 128GB SSD drive
- 2 x 1 TB raid1 drives

NEW win7 DVD 64 bit

Thought I would be clever so I disconnected the 1TB drives and set the ACHI / RAID to disabled and mode to IDE.

Installed windows 64 bit to the SSD - OK. Simple. Fairly quick.

Connected RAID1 drives back in - wouldn't boot or recover !!!!! &*#"$*

Connected 1TB drives back in; set to RAID in BIOS. Tried again

Gave me choice at Install of SSD drive or 1TB drive

Installing now..... will update shortly

While disconnecting 1TB drives might not be necessary it's not that bad an idea. But setting the controller to IDE mode is a mistake if ultimately the drive with Windows will be running in AHCI mode (think that's the default for a single drive on your RAID enabled controller).

One fix after the first install of Windows might have been to boot in IDE mode and enable the AHCI driver before going back to RAID. More info here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976

Realised the error of my ways - left it all connected RAID1 - 1 x 1TB, reinstalled and all runnung OK now!!

Win7 flying!!!
