I did a install on my 1tb WD black thinking i could shrink the drive afterwards.
Seems i cant do this with my c drive because of immovable files ! Partition magic 8 says its not compatable, so im stuck :(

Thanks for any tips.

Think you're very luck that Partition Magic 8 didn't screw your current install, used it when I had Vista and that trashed 3 of my disks after saying there was a fault and I should let it do a repair.

I now use Easus Partition Manager http://www.partition-tool.com/ works flawlessly for me.

Thanks but that says it only supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista (only 32 bit).

I have Win 7 64bit.

parted magic

download that, burn the iso to disc using imgburn

reboot, boot from cd

select 'gparted' from the menu, it's a partition manager

does the job

as always, backup files before messing with partitions

a post on their forum sez no...

Hello

when resizing a Win7 boot partition with parted magic 4.5/gparted, the resulting system becomes unbootable or has to be repaired with Win7 full version.

I know this bug is really a problem with gparted not setting some Win7 flags properly, but maybe the code for this would be better suited inside some NTFS tools that knows how to fix broken NTFS boot partitions. Perhaps you can include this in Parted Magic 4.6?
