Win 7 Post Installation Boot Loop-HELP!

hello all, having massive problems with my windows x64 installation.

I've had win 7 32 bit running fine in my machine but I've decided to upgrade the memory so I had to install 64 bit.

I'm using a bootable USB version of the installer as my cd drive is a bit knackered. The installer boots fine and runs through no problem but on the final reboot when it says starting windows the machine just parps out and reboots again into a loop.

I'm installing on a coz vertex 2e drive which as I said has worked fine with my previous win 7 installation - its worth noting that none of the hardware has changed in the Machine at all the new ram hasn't turned up i m still on the original 4gb. The HDD is set to achi mode but I've also tried it with achi turned off.

I've done a fair amount of googling and most places say jts to do with achi or a possible PSU issue but I can't see how that is as all my hardware is the same as before and the machine worked flawlessly!

I've even done a win 7 startup with the auto reboot disabled incase it was throwing up a bsod but even then it just reboots!

can anyone help as I'm pulling my hair out hah! Sorry for the lack of formatting and general untidyness of my post - I'm posted from a tablet.

1st i would run hardware tests on the whole machine.

Then if it all comes back as OK try re imaging it on to the thumb drive.

Ive tried with different RAM so know the RAM is not at fault, but what sort of tests can I do?

Just to be clear

You already had a win 7 32 bit install on this SSD

You then used a usb version of win 7 64 bit did you select

1. upgrade
OR
2. Custom advanced

Hi yes, I had 32 Bit Win 7 Pro installed fine on the machine, the route I took to go to x64 was to format the HDD and then reinstall 64 Bit Win 7 Pro from the bootable USB pen I have.

I've also tested it with a retail disc but it does exactly the same. On the final stages of installation when it reboots it gets to the 'starting windows' screen and the screen just goes blank as if its been turned off but the machine actually stays on. Could it be graphics card related?

Have you checked the RAM is running at the correct voltages and timings?

Edit: I see it you are using original 4GB RAM still.. I don't read

I'd have a go installing from DVD if possible.

Good god I really don't read, you tried disc already.

Hmmmmm, I think it may have been the graphics card, just realised that the machine was actually staying on when it went off, just the screen went off.

So I put in an old graphics card and it didnt go off but just showed an error saying there was an error so i'm going to try and reinstall windows one more time but with this new graphics card instead, see if it works.
