What it is, my screen will go black for a second, then when it reappears with my taskbar missing, just leaving the start button on the bottom of the screen. It does not happen all the time, only now and then. Any body had the same problem as well.:(

Can't say I have ever seen it happen.

Is there any pattern to what causes the screen to go black? Perhaps you are loading a certain game, or maybe it is the closing of a game etc.

It might also be worth upgrading your graphics drivers.

I had the latest driver, which is 10.6, so I removed that and have put the 10.3 version on.
I'll give that a go and see what happens, I was not gaming, but using Chrome browser.

Only time I have seen this happen was in XP days when explorer.exe crashed, so the taskbar went absent alongside some other things, but usually it would recover.

Any crashes or warning in your event viewer logs?

The monitor went to sleep, move the mouse, and when the monitor woke up, there was no taskbar. Any ideas what this is, I'm see

On the face of it that looks normal - the service control manager is stopping that particular service to save on resources.

do you have a flash *something* playing when the monitor goes to sleep? like youtube or a flash-based screensaver?

Any event marked as "Information" under Level is perfectly normal, and should not be cause of any concern. You will see hundreds, if not thousands of Info entries as Windows logs just about everything - good and bad.

The entries you should be interested in are Warning and Error.
