Just wondering what happens to the old win 7 activation key if I choose to upgrade win 7 to win 8, if I feel lazy about a fresh install. I would like to re-use it for another PC.
considering all new bought versions of 8.1 are now full editions with no options for the cheaper upgrade version, i'd say it's fine. ok upgrading might be a bit naughty but you're not depriving MS of a single penny money wise.
if you bought a cheaper upgrade version of 8.0 then you really should bin the copy of windows 7 as you really would be breaking the terms of the license agreement and unfairly benefiting from the cheaper cost.
It's not really a price thing, except for the fact of buying another copy of Win 7 for an old computer. Mainly, I don't really fancy re-installing everything again. I might even go pro version, need to read up about the difference. Looks like I'll be buying Win 8.1 then.
