I needed drivers for a really old graphics card, Riva TNT2, I found them on my laptop, burnt them to the disc and closed the session.

Double checked to make sure they were there after.

I put the disc into my Win98 machine and the cd rom shows up empty.

What am I doing wrong?

No Win98 remarks, etc etc. I built it for a purpose. Thanks.

The disc did definitely format, it showed around 700mb free on windows 7, but in my 98 machine it shows about 60mb free.. ? Which is around the size of the drivers files.

Is it because they use a different formatting process or something? And would Imgburn solve my issues?
The drive definitely works, as I have installed Diablo 2, but cannot play due to no graphic drivers.

Are both computers connected to the same network? Share a folder on the laptop and copy the drivers across.

Or upload to Google Drive or OneDrive and download.

Or email to yourself.

Is it an old mobo with no USB? I guess you would have tried that already.

If it's the original CD drive it could be a compatability issue. Try burning the disc at a lower speed.

If using Windows own disc burning tool use Imgburn as mentioned.

It has 4 usb's at the back, two at the front. It's a HP D350. Sorry should have said.

I found a random disk, with 2 drivers for my Wifi USB on, so it CAN read them, which is good, just can't use them, because Winrar etc.

I may be OK if I can get them written on to the disc now..

Disk is write protected.. I'll have to buy some more.

Going round the houses with this pc

If I remember correctly, Windows 98 needed drivers for USB drives. I'd be tempted to hook it up to your home network to copy the files over.

I'm wondering if the disc you created was a multi-session one rather than "closed". From memory, newer versions of Windows will happily read a multi-session disc and can even add new things to the disc, but older versions will need the disc to be closed before they can read them.

Unfortunately not near a PC I can use to check settings or whatever to help properly. :(
